The Ultimate Gift Guide
With Christmas fast approaching (as always!) we have come up with a Gift Guide to help you find the perfect present for all the “types” in your life. This gift guide is not just useful for Christmas, in fact, any occasion that calls for a gift will make good use of the ideas below. Knives and complementary accessories, such as wood chopping boards, make really useful presents. No doubt any of the items listed below will be used, enjoyed and appreciated for years to come.
For those of you who have heard the superstition that it’s bad luck to make a present of a knife because it ‘cuts the bond of friendship’, do not fear, the Europeans have come up with a genius custom that sorts the problem right out – give a coin with the knife that the recipient must give back to you, so that it’s as if they are “buying” the knife from you. It is believed that this action breaks the curse and preserves the friendship.
Guessing some of our friends missed the memo on this superstition with all the cheese knives received as an engagement/wedding present. Luckily, years later, all are still friends! Phew, crisis averted!
