A short history of Maserin Knives
We love knowing where our favourite knives come from. Many of the internationally recognised brands have a long family history - generations dedicated to quality and craftsman ship, envisioned by their forefathers. All around the world there are regions famous for their manufacture of knives. Japan, France, Italy and beyond.
Today we are exploring Maserin of Italy, who have been producing knives since 1960 in Maniago, Italy, a city that is known as “the city of knives”. Fervido, founder of the company, was born in 1934 and started working at the age of 14 as a worker in a factory that produced knives, scissors and tools for agriculture. At that time there was no time for fun ---- only for work, from morning till night all week long and Saturdays as well.
Fervido also had to work in the fields to help his parents. Following military service, he started his small company in a space where he worked components for larger companies and started to make his own models, i.e., the world wide famous ‘STILETTO’ classic spring knives. From then on orders poured in and he employed his first workers and the product line grew. In 1985, the company built a 3,000 square metre factory, which is still in use today.
The company is also proud of the fact that Maserin Coltellerie was the first company in Italy to start cooperation with Italian knife makers.
All of the Maserin family work and contribute to the company, and are devoted to producing a very high quality line of superior knives. The company is currently run by three siblings, children of Fervido.
Maserin has a large range of knives for all purposes. They are most famous for their folding pocketknives, with exquisite handles.
Folding knives make for a great present, especially for men. They have a myriad of uses – camping, fishing, peeling fruit, first aid, and even as letter openers at home or in the office! In the coming week we will be reviewing a range of pocket knives to help you work out which one is right for you!
